Regarding the Audio routing -this is way more complex, esp. Because you want to be able to record the Traktor channel signals and the master signal in Ableton. This means you would need to opt for an external mixer setup (only then you can have the individual channel signals and also the master) - and you would need to use two audio interfaces (one for Traktor, one for Live).

- Oct 08, 2010 I record into Traktor. But surely there's some kind of audio through in ableton. I wouldn't add any effects to it during the record, that defeats the point. - Oct 12, 2017 You're right. I guess they should really focus on their very own software - Rekordbox DJ! It is a very good DJ software to use, but if they don't plan on integrating the Ableton Link in the future, I might consider switching back to Traktor again.although I grew tired of Traktor Pro 2 (still no Traktor Pro 3 in this day and age).
- Sep 30, 2012 Technique 2: Traktor provides a beat (this example is perfect for house) while Ableton runs a MIDI loop on a synthesizer (Operator is used in the video) that does live synthesis, side-chained to the Traktor beat. Technique 3: Old school beat and scratching from Traktor, which does live side-chaining to the finger drumming in Ableton.
- May 27, 2015 Traktor Audio 2 Set Up with Ableton Live. Post by rcarew » Wed May 27, 2015 4:15 pm Hey guys, I recently bought a Traktor audio 2 interface to start DJing with Ableton Live 9 Intro. I've had some problems setting up the audio 2 with Ableton though.
Digital DJ Tips reader Chris W aka Spec4 writes: “I have a problem. I am torn between using Traktor and Ableton Live. I have Ms Pinky for Ableton Live but it’s overly complicated. I love the loops and loop controls of Traktor and the easy effects usage, but I value the warp in Ableton and the ability to launch clips. Do you think the FT3 by Faderfox would be a good controller option here option?”

The Faderfox Micromodul FT3 is a great bit of kit that as you’ve identified can work with both Traktor and Ableton, but so could practically all gear – it’s all Midi, after all. The hardware is not really the issue here – it’s what software you’re comfortable with.
If you want to use Ableton and Traktor, Serato has The Bridge for Serato Scratch Live, but it involves a full digital vinyl set-up. It is also possible to use sync Traktor and Ableton – Dubspot has a good tutorial on this. Also, Serato ITCH has “elastic beatgridding” for material with drifting tempos (as indeed does MixVibes Cross software), so if Traktor’s rather limited beatgridding is the only thing stopping you choosing it over Ableton, there are other no-Traktor options out there. Otherwise, Traktor has sample decks for something similar to launching clips in Ableton.

Looking forward, Traktor 2.5 is bringing in some of the features of Ableton (and the new Kontrol F1 controller duplicates some of the hardware functions of Ableton clip controllers). Exactly how much Ableton-style functionality will be ported over to Traktor in this upgrade remains to be seen, but it’s worth considering.
Have you found yourself torn between Ableton Live and more traditional DJ software? Do you use them both, and if so, how and with which combination of hardware? Please share your thoughts in the comments.

- Hey guys
I did search for this question in previous posts before writing but cant find the topic. I watched DJ Endo’s video on how to sync Traktor and Ableton and have it running perfectly. I noticed that the loops from Ableton don’t record in Traktor and recall seeing a discussion about this somewhere online. Is there a way to do this? I seem to recall something about downloading an app called Jack Audio but the Endo video doesnt use this. This may be overkill but I also have Reason 6. I havent tried this yet but wondering if I can route Traktor and Ableton in Reason in order to record everything? Or if I use Rewire how I can get everything:
Traktor songs/Ableton Loops/Rewire Reason/ = Record everything. My sound card is an NI Audio Kontrol 1 if that helps.
ThanksI’m setting this up too as it happens, Id planned on recording with ableton though, thought it would give more room and options for tweaking ect. Whats your set up? I’m going to see how I get on with using my iPad to control ableton, any experience with this? Thanks and hope you solve your problem 🙂
